A bit late for Happy Holidays but here’s my first Happy Holidays from India

I know it’s a bit late for the Holidays and today is the first day of February. Nevertheless I’d like to show you my first Happy Holidays (HH) from India. I like Barbie dolls from India but they are hard to find. I’ve collected the Holidays series since 1996. I hoped to find the Indian issues too. I was lucky and found one. She has the box of the 1995 Happy Holidays and on the back you can see a pic of a 1995 Purple Passion Barbie from Toys ‘R’ Us. I have no idea if this was planned or not. The other Holiday dolls have pics of themselves on the back. The box of the 1995 Happy Holiday has a promo pic of a 1995 HH Barbie e.g..

One of the reasons to collect Barbie dolls from India is for me the painting in their faces. It’s very different from normal Western Barbie dolls, not so exorbitant.

I hope you can see what I mean.

Welcome to Morocco!

I’m a fan of the “Dolls of the World” Collection that was produced in the 1980s and 1990s. I’m always interested in other cultures. They are so exiting. I already had several DOTW dolls from the 1990s that I bought back then. I liked them because their look was different in comparison to other Barbie dolls. I’m not such a big fan of traditional dresses but I liked most dresses that the DOTW dolls wore. I’m not informed if these dresses are 100% authentic or not but I think this topic is not so important.

As a German I would never wear a Traditional dress because to me they are not fashionable. It’s often hard to do trivial tasks in such a dress like going to cycle. I prefer to wear practical clothes. Nevertheless it doesn’t mean that I reject them completely. I really like Traditional dress for the DOTW because it’s a thing of understanding other cultures. Morocco has still something mystic… hard to explain… maybe the magic of the orient that fascinates me.

First new Barbie doll in 2015

The first new Barbie doll in my collection has arrived. It’s a Barbie from one of my favorite decade, the 1990s. It’ the Barbie at Bloomingdale’s from 1996. It may be a simple Barbie doll but what makes her interesting to me is that she was not available in Germany. Furthermore it is interesting that she was only available at Bloomingdale’s, one of the biggest department stores in the US in times before the internet was wide spread.

Christmas time is when wishes come true

I had a lot to do in the last weeks and I haven’t bought very much new Barbie dolls. I recently found this one and I thought she would fit perfectly in my collection. I always wanted her but in the last year she was hard to find here in good old Europe. Anyway I thought she would be the perfect X-mas present for myself. And here she comes … my Grand Premiere Barbie doll.

She was the first Barbie doll released for the Official Barbie Collectors Club back in 1996. I like the late Superstar Era very much since all my childhood dolls were released in the 1990s. In my opinion this face is one of the most beautiful faces that I have ever seen. It’s no question that it’s my own personal taste. I like simple dresses when the pattern is good.

A new Barbie doll from Asia

Today I gonna open my treasure chest again and show you my latest Barbie doll. She arrived here three days ago and she’s called Fan Bing Bing. She’s an Asia Exclusive and portrays the Actress, Singer and Producer Fan Bing Bing. From the first moment I saw her, I knew she had to be part of my collection. I really wanted to have her in my collection because I collect Barbie dolls from Asia. So she fits perfectly in my collection. And here are some pics of Fan Bing Bing. I think she’s one of the loveliest Asian Barbie dolls Mattel produced in the last years.

Society Style Collection (TRU)

Today I gonna open my treasure chest again this week and I’ d like to show you my latest complete series, the Society Style collection. This series was released by Toys ‘R’ Us in the mid 1990s and I think this is one of the most beautiful series they ever made. For me they are a memory to my first trip to Toys’ R’ Us in 1996 when I was 11 years old. I saw this series among others in their showcase and it was no question that I had to had them in my collection. Some years passed by but yesterday the last one missing ( Emerald Enchantment Barbie) finally arrived. I’m so happy to have the Society Style Collection now complete.

Holiday 2013 Barbie

Today I gonna open my treasure chest again and present you my new Holiday 2013 Barbie doll. I just received her two days ago. Hope you enjoy the pics although Christmas is over already.

She is the 32nd Holiday Barbie in my collection, which also includes Variations of Holiday Barbie doll with different hair colours.

Kebaya, Kebaya, Kebaya …

Today I gonna open my treasure chest again. Last week the new year started and today I’m going to show you my latest Barbie doll. I finally found the last one from the first series of Kebaya Barbie dolls from Malaysia. The new lady in pink joins her two sisters in green and in white and completes this series. This series uses the Teresa headmold. The dolls are from 1998. The Barbie doll in the Pink Kebaya has pale pink lips while her sisters have red lips. Another thing that you can hardly see is that the Kebaya (traditional dress) is pink with a little touch of silver which reflects in nice way when you move the box. Now I do have 4 Kebaya Barbie dolls in my collection. There are 5.

Byron Lars – the first dolls

Today I gonna open my treasure chest again. What may be inside ? It’s the first series that Byron Lars made for Mattel in the late 1990’s. I must tell you that before this series no Afro-American Barbie doll was released in Europe. I think it’s because the percentage of Afro-Americans living here. The percentage is very low and there was no reason why no ethnic dolls were back then on the German market. Few collectors, who had relatives in the US, were able to get them. In times before Internet was used as a source to buy dolls, getting AA Barbie dolls was hard. Now we also have books in which we can look them up.

The situation changed when the first Barbie dolls by Byron Lars were available. From this series I own Cinnabar Sensation (CC version, only doll available in AA version and CC version), Plum Royale and Indigo Obessession. In my collection In the Limelight Barbie is missing but I didn’t really like her.

Here comes the bride!!!!

Before I gonna start this article I admit I love to collect Barbie doll brides. I don’t know how much brides I have in my collection at the moment but I have lots of brides. I think they look perfect. Every doll is unique but has its very own style. Today I gonna introduce a small but nice series called the Bridal Collection. This series contains three dolls.

I think the series started in 2000 and ended in 2002. The one on the left was deboxed for several years but I had to put her in her box again when I moved three years ago. Somehow the she reminds me of Julia Roberts in “Runaway Bride”. The dress is very similar and it’s very overhanging but you can’t see this when the doll was never removed from its box.

The second one was the last one missing in my collection. I think I got her in 2008. The design is very interesting although I’m personally not the biggest fan of romantic wedding dresses but I think it’s suitable for Barbie.

The third and last one somehow reminds me of the wedding dress that Queen Maxima from the Netherlands wore at her wedding. Maybe it’s because of the train?

Anyway, I like the design of this dress too because it’s different from the others. I wish the series would have contained more than 3 dolls.
