The only Magic Moves Barbie from Congost resource you will ever need…

I admit in the last months I found lots of Congost Barbie dolls from Spain. I have no idea why but I buy the dolls when they become available somewhere. My latest find is a Spanish version of the Magic Moves Barbie. I have no idea what her name is. I bought her as Spanish Magic Moves version. She is indeed different from the US version. It seems that the boxed dolls from Spain are extremely hard to find so I bought mine without any box. She still has 95% of her hair (which is quite good for a Barbie doll from Spain). She also has her complete make up. This time no problems with repaints. The only thing she’s missing is her original outfit. At the moment she’s wearing a mini dress. I’m not sure to which Barbie doll the dress belongs.

The mechanism does not work anymore but I don’t care very much about it.

You haven’t seen this Barbie Venezuela trio anywhere before

Last week I got a parcel from Spain with an unusual content. I got my first Barbie dolls from Venezuela. I saw them recently and bought them immediately. What’s so special about Barbie from Venezuela? Well, they are hard to find in Europe. They were produced by Rotoplast in Venezuela similar like the one from Basa I wrote about last week. I learned that the hair quality is quite good. It seems that the make up on the cheeks was normal make up for humans. It obviously happens often that the make up from the cheeks is gone first. I think that’s interesting to know.

With a little help of a collector from South America I was able to identify all three.

Peach n Cream South America version Barbie

Peach n Cream version venezuela

Melocotón Barbie

The first one with the hair cut is called Melocotón Barbie doll. She’s from 1986 and the Peach n Cream version from Venezuela.

Barbie para Vestir Venezuela

The second one is called Barbie para Vestir what means “Barbie to dress” in English.  She was the hardest one of the 3 to identify. She’s from 1992. I was also told that she has a fabrication error ( the strange thing you can see on her neck).

The last one is called Aqua Marina Barbie and was released in 1990.

6 ways Jewel Hair Mermaid is cooler than Michael Jordan

It lasted a long time until I was able to find a Jewel Hair Mermaid that was not soooooooooooooooo expensive like all the others. For many years I had 3 Jewel Hair Barbie dolls but the fourth was missing. Then I got one in a lot but her hair was not perfect. The problem with these dolls is the hair. You have almost immediately tangles in their hair. She is definitively the Barbie with the longst hair ever made but the problem was to keep the hair in good condition. As a child this was a real nightmare. Tangles, tangles, tangles. I sold my version of the Jewel Hair Mermaid in 1997. I found the Afro-American version along my road as collector more than 10 years ago for real good price and the Midge in blue too. Teresa followed in 2011 0r 2012.

So why is she in my opinion cooler than Micheal Jordan?

  • I don’t know Michael Jordan in person
  • I have never owned any Michael Jordan dolls as a child
  • I’m not a fan of basket ball players
  • Michael Jordan has short hair
  • There is no movie about her
  • She’s cheaper than any Michael Jordan TV appearance

Francie, the cousin of Barbie

Today I’m going to present you Francie. She’s the first and only cousin of Barbie. She was released in 1965 and was produced for approx. 10 years. She disappeared around 1975. When she was available she was popular among young girls. At first she was only available as Straight Leg doll (without knee joints) but in 1967 a Bend Leg version was available too. Francie has a different body than Barbie and she is smaller. She was originally called Francine Fairchild but she was sold under the name of “Francie” and was thought to be a 14 year old.

The Francie dolls are popular among the collectors too. She was available in a wide variety of dolls like the two one I have in my collections. The “No Bangs” Francie is the most expensive doll. She has no bangs and giant hair do. I don’t have one yet in my collection but I really like her. She so late 1960s – stylish. Her wardrobe is very beautiful. Exiting outfits from the Mod-era (Mod-era 1966 – 1975) contribute to her popularity. The Growing Hair Francie was the only mechanism Francie doll.  I was glad to get one last week.

Ski Fun Ken is here…

Last week I was able to complete my Ski Fun series after almost 25 years. I didn’t it in the long term. It just happened. So now I have the the Ken, Barbie ( from my childhood, her Ski is missing on the pic but I have it) and the Midge …. that I always wanted so badly but I never got her. Poor me… had to grew up before I was able to buy her. Anyway now I can play with Barbie, Ken, Midge, Snowball( the dog) , Blizzard ( the horse), the carriage (carriage + sleigh) and the Chocolate Shop.

How does a Barbie knee joint work?

For all who always wanted to know how a knee joint works but never damaged a Barbie doll to find it out, here is the result. (I already got the doll with the broken knee joint.) I haven’t  destroyed the doll myself.   I think the pics explain how the position is held and why we can bent the knee joint three times.

Finally complete

In the last weeks I had the chance to complete my  1977  Superstar Barbie doll. She came with her dress, earrings and her ring.  Back then when she was released with a dress, a boa, a pair of  pink Superstar shoes, earrings, a necklace and a ring.

Here are some pictures of the now completed outfit:

Lucky Lips … or the interesting change of the colour of Barbie lips from the Vintage era

When you consider Vintage Barbie dolls you might have noticed that some of these dolls have very pale lips, not the normal pink or red lips. Why are they so pale? Well, the paint faded. That means that the colour pigments of the original colour disappeared or bleached out. And it looks like this… there are so many shades but I have only three example that I can show you at the moment. I hope that this might help you because it’s really hard to find detailed information about this phenomenon and all the shades.

When we consider that they came in the following make up schemes … then you maybe understand what I want to express.

Eatin Fun Kelly/Fütter mich Shelly

I haven’t blogged about my Shelly/Kelly collection for several years. Today I’m going to change it. I really liked this little sister of Barbie from the beginning in 1994 or 1995 (she was not available in 1994 in Germany). She was so cute and I decided I had to have her. At the beginning there were only a few dolls. Back then I was not so much interested in playing with them but rather use them for a display. So I bought what I found. I think I was a little too old when this one was released but I found her later for only a few bucks. That’s the Eatin Fun Kelly. #kelly #shelly #barbieblog #barbietreasurechest #eatingfunkelly #barbielibrary
